Hi there, I'm Claire.
After an internship with Dzanc Books in college, I knew I wanted to contribute to the publishing industry early on. After graduating from Grand Valley State University in 2021, I did just that, bolstered by a B.A. in English Literature and a minor in Mandarin Chinese. Now, I research, collate, and format myths and tales for Flame Tree Publishing, famed British publisher of fine anthologies. With independent publisher Pandi Press, I copy edit for renowned crime fiction writer, Joe Lansdale, winner of the Edgar Award and author of over 60 novels. I'm responsible for writing facilitator scripts for Mazda Motors virtual learning sessions. No matter what task I handle, my priority is ensuring Cardinal Flower clients' visions are executed professionally, with a compelling voice both clear and strong.

I currently live in Grand Rapids, Michigan and enjoy walking through the city, headphones blasting Ethel Cain. I'm always up for conversations on China, mental health, and native plants, such as my beloved Michigan Cardinal Flower.
The Cardinal Flower story
In the great state of Michigan lives a sought-after scarlet wildflower. It's not found in your typical garden, rather, woody areas or healthy streambanks. Its vivid petals stretch out like wings. The cardinal flower boldly declares its presence in nature, attracting valuable pollinators and eager environmentalists alike.

I want your finished product to be like a cardinal flower. To stand out among the rest, to be a rare prize in its surroundings. Cardinal flowers need to be preserved and cultivated in the right conditions to bloom, to plant roots in nourishing soil. That’s where I come in. I’m going to bring the same care and dedication to help your story, no matter the genre or style, flourish in the literary landscape. I will not only give advice on that query letter, but assist in your quest to find a designer, publisher, or agent. Whatever your journey as an author, publisher, or company looks like, I will treat it as one of my precious wildflowers, unfurling its leaves and petals to face the sky.
